Jacob's Ladder 1
Jacob’s Ladder Spray Paint & Acrylic on Canvas 2013
Original Painting Sold Art Prints available on Canvas or Glass S/M/L
“And Jacob took of the stones of that place, and put them for his pillow, and lay down to sleep. And he dreamed, and behold a ladder set up on earth, and the top of it reached to heaven: and behold the angels of God ascended and descended on it.” Genesis 28:11-13
The Midrash says that while Jacob was choosing a single rock upon which to lay his head, several rocks on the ground wanted to be chosen. But, instead of fighting, they merged together into one, reflected in this painting as a multi-faceted boulder. The ladder sweeps upward as the angels, represented here in white, ascended and descended, connecting the Heavens and Earth, and Israel with the Diaspora.
