Miriam’s Song Spray Paint & Acrylic on Canvas Sold
“Miriam the prophetess, Aaron's sister, took the tambourine in her hand, and all the women went out after her with tambourines and with dancing. Miriam answered them: Sing to the Lord, for He is highly exalted.” Exodus 15:20 The Jewish women sang and danced as God led them out of Egypt. It was both a physical and emotional relief that led to this outbreak of song and dance. The physical nature of dance reflects their newfound ownership of their own bodies as they are released from slavery. Song, on the other hand, is how people communicate their feelings, beliefs and emotions. So, this painting is meant to capture the physical and lyrical elements of Miriam’s song and dance.
